I got up this morning and dug the Avalanche and the Jeep out their Snow banks. Not too bad but pretty bad for around here.

First I had to dig my way down the driveway, past the 92 (BTW that Storm Proof cover I bought is doing a good job) to the street.

Once I get past the 92, I get the passanger side of the Avalanche dug out so I can start it and warm it up.

I make my way around the back of the Avalanche.

And get a nice pic of our Cherokee....

At this point I'm tired of digging so I just get in the Avalanche and put it in 4L and drive over the snow bank that the city plow driver was kind enought to plow up nearly 5ft high right right next to it on the drivers side.

Fun Fun. Take it easy guys.

Behind the fence in my backyard, my property slopes down a hill about 75ft to a tidal wetland that is typically a grass swamp with a narrow creek that runs through it to the Chesapeake Bay. It attracts all kinds of critters and birds and it pretty nice except for the Mosquitoes that it breeds there, the size of dragonflies.

Anyhow, after the last big snow on December 19th and subsequent rain and melt, the wetland turned into a lake providing me with instant waterfront property.

It will be interesting to see what it looks like this time around.

Well, I wouldn't say whiners. A little bit of show does cause some minor difficulties. But, until they start putting up poles like this to let the snowplow drivers know where the road ends, you ain't seein' much snow.

We only got about a foot on Friday/Saturday. Unfortunately, it's freezing cold, so none will melt, and we're going to get 10" - 12" Tuesday/Wednesday.
Going to be some roof cave-ins I'm afraid.

Glad I drove the vette down the block to rotate the tires on Friday morning.

Well, normally, we don't. This winter sucked more than I can remember (26 years), not because of the snow but because of the lack of sunshine.

Most of the snow stays over on the mountain. What usually happens at my house (1000 ft. above the Reno valley) is that we get 6 inches or so and it's gone the next day. We usually have 300 days of sunshine and hit 55-60s a couple days per month in Jan-Feb. The sun's pretty intense even at 60 you see people running around in shorts.

Normally, the snow stays on the mountain and we have pretty decent weather.

If you decide to check out Reno, let me know.
Ain't perfect but, I'm never leaving.

Actually, we're not getting all that much snow over on the mountain, the Mid Mountain Base is a bit low.

Snow Collapses Dulles Jet Center

The huge snowstorm blanketing the mid-Atlantic has reportedly collapsed the roof of an FBO at Dulles and may have damaged or destroyed four aircraft, according to WTOP. It's also been reported that snow caused damage at Manassas Airport in Virginia. The roof of Dulles Jet Center collapsed about 8 a.m. Saturday after the D.C. area was buried under almost three feet of snow in some areas. Dulles Airport Manager Rob Yingling said there were five people in the building but no one was injured. He also confirmed four "private jets" were inside and that damage to the building was significant.

Photos and video on the NBC Washington Web site show the front of the building distorted under the weight of the snow.

Another friend of mine in the club has been fighting for his life after an episode of congestive heart failure. His wife emailed me yesterday and his "car barn" collapsed under the weight of the snow. He had about 20 antique cars and collectibles in there including a few classic Vettes. He is still in the hospital and his son's were going down to check out the damages, but first reports are that the cars are squashed!!!

How True! They were making plans to sell off the collection anyway. This just makes it into an insurance deal.

By the way ---- I went down to my boat yesterday.
