I am in the process of SLP intake install with new injectors on my 91. I am also in the "while I'm in there" mode and along with other items I ordered a replacement MSD distributor from Summitt Racing. It came the day after I ordered it! Wow - fast service!
I ordered it on line and saw that it specifically fit the VIN "8" 91 Corvette. This is the L98 and not the LT5.
I have not had time to look at the direction sheet that came with it but I see by looking at the box before I left for work today that it has an adjustable vacuum advance on it. The distributor I took off the car does NOT have an external vacuum advance canister on it. Did they send me the wrong distributor? Or do I just connect a vacuum line to one of the openings in my intake manifold (maybe with a "T" to an existing line?)
Still at work and this is bothering me. Maybe the directions that come with the MSD will tell me what to do.

The LT5 was a lost spark system... no distributor!!!

It should looke identical to what you have, so I would say they shipped the wrong part... shocking... NOT.

That is what I needed to know. I will go out to the pole barn and open up the box and look at it.
Thank you!

They shipped what Ron ordered but, it's easy to miss that that distributor had a vacuum advance unless you really look over the part and description.

Can Summit make a mistake, sure so can all the parts houses.
Summit has 50+ damn distriburors listed for a 91, half with vac, half without.

Jegs - 25 distributors listed for a 91 again, half & half.

MSD website says - No distributors available for a 91

Ron, I'd call or email the MSD tech line. I've gotten very good service and quick answers from them. www.msdignitions.com .

A small cap remote coil dist identical to the one used in F-Bodies L98's and TBI trucks

Traded my old distributor in to NAPA for a rebuilt one. I also added an MSD cap and rotor and an Accell coil. I have to take the cap back as they gave me a clamp on style instead of a bolt down style.
I will be leaving the Tpi cover off now as this will show prettier.

Yeah, don't trust Summit's catalog as far as you can throw it. I always verify with the manufacturer.

No need to, just clip off the clamps and use the screws of your old cap.
